By his mid-thirties Thornton was Managing Director of Wrigleys Chewing Gum in the UK. Previously he had been Head of New Products for Avon Cosmetics, Europe and Group Marketing Director of Cussons Imperial Leather. Encouraged by Unilever he founded The Marketing Clinic in 1984, the first market research consultancy to exclusively specialise in “Understanding the basis of flavour and fragrance preference”.

He continuously created, developed and improved many unique interconnected research methodologies to understand, predict and provide taste guidance to many Global Food and Drink brands.

Thornton started winding down his active involvement with The Marketing Clinic from 2000 and actually retired some five years later. He now splits his time between his two homes in The Cayman Islands and occasionally in Devon.

Chris graduated from Sheffield University in 1984 and has twenty years’ client side marketing experience including Head of Product Development at Barclays Bank and Head of Marketing at The Meat and Livestock Commission responsible for the marketing of British pork, and pig meat products during and following the Foot and Mouth outbreak in 2001.

Chris worked with The Marketing Clinic as a client for a number of years before joining us in 2005. Since joining, Chris has run research projects in Europe, North and South America and Asia.

He is based in Leamington Spa in the Midlands where he lives with his wife and four teenage sons.

Since University Greg has worked in the branded Food and Drink arena for over twenty years.

After an extensive and successful career which included a number of commercial roles in both the Marketing and Sales environment, his final ‘Blue Chip’ role was as Head Of Innovation in RHM. Whilst there Greg was approached and asked to join The Marketing Clinic in early 2001.

Greg has undertaken work in UK, across Europe and in the US & China in the last 12 months alone.

Greg lives and works in a village just outside Cambridge and is married with two children with whom he sails all too infrequently.
